SUMMARY:Lady Kiah & the Blue Dragon Jazz Project
DESCRIPTION: \nKiah is an accomplished trumpet player and vocalist from the island of Kauai (read more about Kiah below). She will be joined by Alex Czerny (piano)\, Delphina (upright bass)\, and Russell Lundgren (drums) from the Blue Dragon Jazz Trio. Also performing with the group will be saxophonist John Lundgren. It is sure to be a very special night! \nDoors at 5:30pm…show 6:30pm-9:30pm. Tickets are $12 in advance…$15 at the door (children 12 and under are free). Purchase tickets here. \nKiah Abendroth is a third generation female trumpet player. She holds her Master’s Degree in Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts\, specializing in classical trumpet performance. Her instructors include renowned trumpeters Judith Saxton\, David Washburn\, and Dean Boysen (as well as her father\, Roy Abendroth\, and the inspiration of her mother and grandmother\, Lori and Beverley). Although Kiah’s training is classical\, she also enjoys playing free improvisation\, jazz\, world\, reggae\, sacred music\, folk and more! \nKiah has performed with some incredible artists (Ozomatli\, Elijah Ray\, Fantuzzi\, Amber Lily & Tubby Love) in addition to various chamber orchestras\, pit orchestras and jazz ensembles in New York City and around the USA. During her time in NYC\, Kiah was honored to be the producer and soloist for an original production at the Lincoln Center Institute\, “Introspection\,” which featured classical works\, original poetry\, and an original philosophical ballet. \nKiah is also a passionate educator\, working with PreK – adult students. Kiah completed the Kenan Fellowship with Lincoln Center Education\, a prestigious six-month long fellowship in arts education and imaginative learning. Kiah is currently the music instructor for the Kauai Waldorf School and also offers vocal liberation lessons and workshops\, “Safe to Sing.” \nKiah also offers 1-1 support for creatives and loving leaders\, and has offered over 200 sessions as a respected transformational coach. In 2021 Kiah launched a transformational community program\, “Align & Shine\,” dedicated to cultivating self-love\, self-expression\, purpose and loving leadership. \nIn addition to music performance\, Kiah is a multi-genre creative. In the summers\, Kiah grew-up drawing and painting with watercolor in Yosemite Valley and she still enjoys multi-media artwork today. In 2022\, Kiah began designing original beaded jewelry\, customized for people’s intentions and prayers. Kiah’s designs have been featured on the Kaua’i runway. There is currently a waitlist for her custom pieces. \nKiah is a published poet and children’s book author: Scanning for Signal\, a collaborative poetry book. Albert the Peace Tree\, children’s book by Kiah promoting empathy. \nTo Kiah\, music is uplifting and healing. It is her hope to create community through music\, to bring us together\, within ourselves and within our world. \nKiah is currently living on Kaua’i\, where she is exploring creativity\, innovation\, and transformation through the arts. \n
